Google is bring back missing out on evaluations in Google Business Profiles after repairing a bug that caused them to get eliminated.

Google is repairing a bug that triggered reviews to go missing out on from Google Service Profiles. Google validates reviews are getting restored. Google’s Search Liaison, Danny Sullivan, announced on Buy Twitter Verified in reply to Mike Blumenthal, who states he reported the bug a week earlier.

Blumenthal isn’t exaggerating the seriousness of the bug. Reviews are a restaurant’s bread and butter, and eliminating them can significantly impact profits.

There are numerous threads in the Google Company Profile help online forums begun by business owners who lost most or all of their reviews.

In each thread, the business owners share one thing in common. After using Google’s suggested edits to their company profile, they all lost evaluations.

Blumenthal composes in an article that he discovered Google was altering the consumer identification (CID) number when businesses applied suggested edits:

“With some digging, I found that in each case Google had altered the CID, the identifier Google uses to connect all relevant details to an organization, including evaluations. Usually the CID only alters when two listings merge or Google has actually hard-suspended a listing for guidelines offenses and then renewed it.”

Consumer reviews are related to a specific CID number, which means changing the CID removes the reviews.

That must never ever take place, particularly not when applying Google’s suggested edits.

A fix is on the method, and ideally, it’s as easy as reverting the affected Google Company Profiles to their original CID numbers.

We’ll upgrade this post if Google shares extra details.
